TWENTY BENCH CABERNET SAUVIGNON
- The 2012 Twenty Bench is a wine of great personality.
- Dry and full-bodied, with flavors of black currants, cassis, anise, dark chocolate and smoky oak.
- A finely balanced wine of substance with firm structure and silky tannins.
The 2014 Twenty Bench Cabernet Sauvignon is an inky dark burgundy in the glass, hinting at the wine's density and depth. The nose is a bit shy at first—and would benefit from decanting—and a bit of air coaxes out of it a beguiling ripe black cherry core, twining with blackberry syrup, a subtle minerality, and the sweet smokiness of charred French oak. The mouth is creamy and dense, with layered of juicy berries, the darkest of dark chocolates, rich espresso and black pepper. The wine is well-balanced and drinking well in its youth, but would reward the patience of a few year's cellaring with even more complexity and grace. Enjoy this singular wine with a pan-seared filet mignon au poive, served with buttered green beans and roasted new potatoes.
"Here's a delicious Cabernet for drinking now, although it may gain a note or two with a few years in the cellar. It's dry and full-bodied, with flavors of black currants, cassis, anise, dark chocolate and smoky oak."
